This is a "live" drill chuck for the tailstock. A rotating tailstock chuck (also called a revolving tailstock chuck) is an attachment for a lathe’s tailstock that allows the workpiece held in the tailstock center to be rotated precisely during machining. This is different from a fixed tailstock center, which only provides axial support. Use it to support small diameter work where a live center or a follower rest is not practical. When It’s Useful: Turning long, slender, or heavy shafts where a fixed center can’t provide enough support or alignment. Facing or cleaning the OD of long or irregularly shaped parts. Working with pipe or odd-shaped parts that don’t accept a standard live/dead center. Precision detailing on the end of a workpiece when you need controlled rotation for concentricity. The shank is 2 Morse taper. The drill chuck has a 1/32" - 1/2" capacity. Chuck rotates smoothly on a sealed bearing. Chuck key is included.
