While Norway was burning things down in the early nineties, Sakis Tolis and his brother were quietly building something darker and more layered in Athens, and Rotting Christ have outlasted almost everyone who dismissed them.The Hellenic black metal scene they helped define has its own distinct character, denser and more atmospheric than the Scandinavian template, soaked in ancient mythology and Mediterranean shadow.
