Redware pottery is a low-fired, porous earthenware, made from iron-rich clay local to the region. The clear glaze was traditionally applied in liquid form, before the piece is fired in the kiln. During the firing process, the heat melts the glaze into the smooth, glossy surface seen on the finished piece. Handcrafted in the historic village, our pottery gives you beautiful options for everyday uses. Most pieces are available in four historically accurate glaze options. Each is hand thrown and unique in shape and color. All pieces are glazed with a lead-free glaze, making them food safe. Redware is not suitable for dishwasher or microwave use due to its low firing temperature causing it to be more porous. Hand wash only. Approximate Dimensions: 8.25 in. Length, 5.25 in.
