Our restoration workshop has stripped the original varnish from this piece before applying a fresh matt lacquer that enhances the colour and grain of the natural oak as well as providing a good level of everyday protection. As with all lacquered oak furniture care is needed when placing hot or sharp items and we always recommend the use of mats and coasters to avoid future damage. It should be noted that there are some old marks on the top surface that can be seen in the photographs.
