While the wild habitats are increasingly threatened, the Royal Blue Endlers available today are high-quality, selectively bred strains produced in captivity to maximize their jaw-dropping iridescent blue coloration. Ideal Tank Size & Environment Because of their tiny adult size, a small group can comfortably thrive in a minimum tank size of 5 gallons. However, a 10-gallon aquarium is highly recommended to better manage water stability and give them ample swimming room. To recreate their natural environment, provide a densely planted aquarium using live plants like Java Moss, Hornwort, and Anubias. Plants offer excellent hiding spots for fry, reduce stress, and mimic the sheltered margins of their native lagoons. Use a gentle or adjustable filtration system, as heavy currents can easily exhaust these small swimmers. Diet & Feeding Requirements Royal Blue Endlers are unfussy omnivores. In the aquarium, they will readily accept a base diet of high-quality micro flakes, crushed pellets, and freeze-dried foods.
