Handcrafted in Burbank, California, it’s remarkably rugged, capable of handling up to 160 dB SPL at 1 kHz - and its compact form with flexible mounting makes it easy to position without drawing attention.At its core is a 2.5-micron aluminum ribbon element, the same used in the iconic R-121, shaped through Royer’s patented direct-corrugation process. The element is safeguarded by a three-layer windscreen system and an internally shock-mounted transducer, which shields it from blasts, plosives, and vibrations. This design not only reduces proximity effect for easier close-miking of amps and acoustic instruments, but also extends the ribbon’s durability.
