Straight Fixing Plate - pressed retaining plate for the automatic transmission sump pan, straight (side) position. The sump pan on the ZF four-speed automatic transmission is clamp ed rather than bolted through a flange: pressed plates sit under the screw heads and distribute the clamping load along the pan lip so the gasket is compressed evenly. This is the flat straight plate used along the sides of the pan; two are fitted per transmission, alongside the angled corner plates. Because the plates take the full clamping load they are easily bent or cracked when the pan is removed for a fluid and filter service. A distorted plate leaves a low spot in the sealing face and the pan will weep regardless of screw torque, so any plate that is deformed, cracked or corroded should be renewed on reassembly. Show more
