Ruby is a versatile, slightly flared skirt pattern available in three styles and five versions. The first is a classic denim skirt with refined detailing - a fly front, slanted pockets, fitted waistband, back vent, and contrast topstitching offered in both long and short lengths. The second style pairs a long sheer overlay with an opaque inner skirt, creating a layered design that can be styled in multiple ways depending on the desired look. The third version is a simple, elegant skirt with a slightly flared silhouette, a lower fitted waistband, and an invisible back closure. Like the denim version, it features a back vent and can be made in either a long or short length. Important to Know: I AM Patterns are designed to be traced off. The different pieces overlap with each other so you will need to trace the pattern on paper. This means that you will be able to make multiple sizes of the garment and adjust the pattern as you trace it if necessary. For this you could use tracing paper, baking parchment, thin wrapping paper; or we can supply you with some spot and cross pattern paper. Suggested Fabrics: The I AM Ruby skirt has no ease at the hips, so we recommend choosing a fabric with a bit of stretch. However, knit fabrics are not suitable for this pattern. Versions A & B:– Main fabric: medium-weight woven fabrics such as denim, gabardine, cotton twill, faux leather, suedine, Tencel twill, smooth or corduroy velvet…– Pocket lining: cotton poplin, batiste, fine cotton canvas… Version C:– Outer skirt: structured openwork or sheer fabrics such as embroidered cotton or silk organza, broderie anglaise, etc.– Inner skirt: structured woven fabrics such as cotton or silk satin, etc. Do not choose special lining fabrics. The inner skirt is not a lining but an integral part of the skirt, which is why we call it an “inner skirt” rather than a “skirt lining”. Versions D & E: gabardine, cotton twill, Prince of Wales checks, tartan, tweed, fine wool fabric, Tencel twill, smooth or corduroy velvet, millerais, jacquard… Variations: The pattern comes in 5 versions: A : Long denim skirt B : Short denim skirt C : Long sheer skirt (with short opaque skirt underneath) D : Long skirt E : Short skirt Fabric Requirements: Please refer to the image for information about fabric requirements and sizing.
