Ruby grass, Melinus nerviglumis is a tender perennial from South Africa, hardy only in zones 9-10. The summer foliage is a soft gray-green color, contrasting to many other garden p lants. Then, in late spring and lasting through late summer the pink blooms begin to appear on arching stems. Grown in most areas as an annual, the fall foliage turns a subtle red color. Seed grown.
