2112 is the breakthrough fourth studio album by Canadian progressive rock legends Rush, originally released in 1976. The album marked a turning point for the band, establishing the ir reputation for ambitious songwriting, technical musicianship and science-fiction storytelling. The first side of the album is dominated by the epic 2112, a seven-part suite inspired in part by the dystopian themes of Anthem. The piece showcases the dynamic interplay between guitarist Alex Lifeson, bassist and vocalist Geddy Lee, and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.
