Rutabaga is an easily-grown, annual plant in the brassica family. The plant produces a huge yellowish root/tuber that gets as large as 4 to 6 inches in diameter and it has the char acteristic purple shoulders. Rutabaga should be planted early because it takes 90-110 days to reach full maturity. It tolerates cool weather quite well and is a great addition to most food plot programs.
