Rx Cephalexin Cephalexin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used in cats and dogs. It can be used in the treatment of urinary tract infections, some respiratory infections and skin and soft tissue infections such as abscesses, lacerations or wounds. Brand may vary. Administration: Cephalexin can be given with or without food. If your pet vomits or seems unwell after receiving medication, try giving it with a small amount of food. It is important your pet completes the antibiotic as directed by your veterinarian, even if your pet appears to feel better. The medication will start working in 1-2 hours, but effects may be observed for a few days. CAUTION: Some medications should be used with caution when given with cephalexin, including Omeprazole, Zinc, Probenecid and Warfarin. Contact your veterinarian about any medications that your pet is taking before starting any treatment. Storage: Store in a tightly sealed container, protected from light and moisture, and at room temperatures between 59°F- 86°F or 15°C- 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
