Rx Novox (Carprofen) for Dogs Novox is the Vedco brand name for generic carprofen and a generic equivalent to Rimadyl. It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and for the control of postoperative pain associated with soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries in dogs. It can also reduce fever. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins in cells, so they produce fewer chemicals that trigger inflammation and stiffness. This is why it is useful for dogs suffering from arthritis and other joint diseases. Give this medication with food, or alone, but giving the medication with food may reduce the chances of any stomach problems. Store at room temperature; never expose it to high heat.
