A high-wear ceramic version of our super-popular Built-In Labyrinth Bearing! These feature a high-wear Silicone Nitride ceramic ball material, which is harder than the usual steel. This means that any grit that does make its way past our Labyrinth Shield is more likely to get blasted out of the bearing race, rather than pitting the balls themselves. The resulting bearing needs a lot less maintenance to keep it running fast. In practice this means that they run faster for longer than a regular steel bearing. To call them totally self-cleaning would be misleading, but the harder ball material does make a discernable difference to the bearing service interval. The black Silicone Nitride ceramic balls we spec is significantly tougher than the white Zirconium Dioxide ceramic balls you will see in cheaper ceramic skate bearings. Our Ceramic Built-In Labyrinth Bearings also share all the advantages inherent to our regular steel Bult In Labyrinth Bearing, namely no need to run speed washers, quieter and smoother ride thanks to the self-aligning spacers, and a single-sided labyrinth shield for excellent protection and easy cleaning.
