When I saw Sinno in conversation with Lauren Elkin at the Institut Français early in the year the power of her presence was truly remarkable. She said at one point in the talk: ”the monster was not what happened to me, the monster was that I might not be able to tell the story.” The fact that she does so in such a sober and direct way is truly an incredible feat of memoir writing.
