Crocus sativus One of the most exotic (and expensive to purchase) spices in the world. Now you can grow your own, and enjoy beautiful flowers too! Saffron Crocus is a cheerful vari ety that bucks the spring blooming tradition and throws up its pretty purple blossoms in the fall. We think it's fun to be reminded of springtime when the leaves are in the middle of their autumn change. Unlike more common crocus, Saffron Crocus unfurls 3 bright red saffron strands (stigmas) that should be harvested shortly after the flower opens. Use the spice fresh, right away, or spread to dry for a few days before storing in an airtight container. Bulb Size 9/10 cm circumference. Find our saffron growing guide here. Show more
