Sailfish Isla Mujeres Every winter the sardines migrate through this area in Mexico and the sailfish are never far behind. I was 30 miles offshore looking for the tornado of frigat e birds circling above which signals there is a bait ball below. I jumped in the water to see 80 sailfish circling a bait ball of sardines the size of a dump truck.
