Curator: If I saw a brightly coloured sailing ship drifting across the sky, I'd stop and watch. This would be one of those kites everyone notices. The Sailing Ship Kite transforms a familiar sailing ship into something unexpectedly airborne. Handmade from ripstop nylon, bamboo and string, it is carefully rigged to resemble a classic sailing ship that can take to the sky on a windy day before returning home as a hanging mobile. It flies best in strong winds and open spaces. Indoors, it becomes a colourful hanging decoration for a child's room or living space. Each kite is handmade by artisans in Bali and arrives flat in a sturdy kraft envelope with kite twine and assembly instructions included.
