Notorious for its deceptive, shallow outer reefs and powerful currents, these waters have claimed over twenty recorded shipwrecks throughout Wollongong’s seafaring history. In this time-lapse study, the violent Pacific swell is smoothed into a restless, misty fog that creeps around the ancient rock shelves. The image strips away the modern coastline, evoking a haunting, timeless landscape where the spirits of the old colliers and forgotten mariners still seem to linger in the white wash.
