Growth Habit: Fast-growing annual leafy plant reaching approximately 1–3 metres tall. Ideal for vegetable gardens, raised beds and large containers. Germination: Sow seeds 5–10 mm deep in a free-draining seed-raising mix. Keep warm (22–30°C) and consistently moist. Germination typically occurs within 5–14 days. Climate: To get a head start, or if you are in colder climates, start growing your seeds indoors so they are well established before summer. In the North Island, Saluyot grows exceptionally well throughout the warmer months in full sun. In the South Island, it is best grown as a summer annual after the last frost, or started indoors and transplanted once the weather has warmed.
