The original for this cast was a commission and was hand carved in Welsh Slate. Inspiration for commissions comes from all sorts of places, for this one the client wanted to develo p a pattern seen in the background of her husbands favourite Star Wars film! Whilst it might be a slightly more unusual place to start, it became a hugely successful and popular design. The pattern appears to move as the light changes on it, this is particularly apparent in the gold version, which is painted using Craigs Gold from Goldfarben a very close match to gold leaf, but more durable.
