DescriptionAcrylic on canvas board - Inspired by The Mystery Machine. I have, at times, thought about calling The Samaritans. As with many other people's lives, there have been periods of distress and great sadness in my life. However, I've been lucky enough to have friends or family to turn to in those times. I cannot imagine how it would feel to have no one, to be alone whilst experiencing such sadness, fear or confusion. What occurs to me today whilst sitting here wondering what The Samaritans means to me, is that I knew they were there. I knew that, if I had no one else to turn to, no one to offer advice or maybe even just listen to me cry, I knew The Samaritans were there. Like many others, I'm sure, I don't often think about The Samaritans, but now that I have, I realise just how amazing those people are, even if we have never called them, they give us a sense of comfort knowing they are always there...Bio A self-taught, professional artist, I have always viewed the world with a bit of squint, trying to decide if something would make a good sketch or painting! Having spent the first few decades of my life unhappily carving out a career in an unrelated discipline, I decided to do something I love and am currently working as a professional artist. I have a fondness for portrait painting, which I often return too, but am currently obsessing over the ocean and its mystery. The past year has been spent in front of an easel with oil paints or bent over a desk with fine art pens trying to convey the drama and intrigue of the ocean.
