A Samoyed is a breed of dog originally developed in Siberia by the nomadic Samoyedic peoples, who relied on them for herding reindeer, pulling sleds, and keeping warm in harsh Arctic conditions. They are easily recognizable for their thick, fluffy, double-layered white coat, which protects them from freezing temperatures, and their famous “Sammy smile,” a natural upturned expression that prevents drool from freezing in the cold.
