Location Theodore Ellison Designs1248 International BoulevardOakland, CA 94606View map About this event In this three-day introductory course, Ted Ellison will teach you the foundational skills to fabricate your own leaded glass projects. You will learn how to cut glass by hand and how to shape it to your pattern with techniques used in a professional workshop. You will create and solder a geometric design that incorporates the three methods of leaded glass construction: copper foil, lead and zinc came. You will gain an understanding of the tools and processes necessary to produce leaded glass projects on your own. A complete syllabus covering the processes presented in the class will be included so that students can focus on observing and learning. Classes are taught in a working studio and aspects of professional practice will be incorporated into the class. Topics include Glass cutting and shaping with hand tools Introduction to the principles of leaded glass design The essentials of soldering Patina application and cementing Details This class is for beginning students. Proof of vaccination is mandatory. A maximum of ten students per class allows for individual instruction. All materials are included. Tools will be provided during class. Lunch will be provided.
