The chart measures 128 stitches wide by 205 stitches high. The pattern is stitched in cross stitch and quarter stitches (1 over 1), so suitable for linen. The sampler was stitched by Ann Lister in 1790 . Unfortunately, there is no other information given on the sampler , so it is not possible to identify her or where she stitched the sampler with any certainty. The sampler was generously gifted to Whitby Museum in 1933 by H.M.& Bureh Thornhill of Bristol. The original sampler was stitched on a heavy linen or canvas. It measures 280mm wide by 400 mm high. Due to thread loss and that the sampler is in a frame, this is not a completely true reproduction but a very close copy. Show more
