A precise selection of materials for optimum safety The outer shell of the Shadowmatt is made of polycarbonate, which is a material used, among other things, for high-end motorcycle helmets. It is covered with anti-scratch mat painting. The inner shell is made of polystyrene with variable density providing a better dissipation of the energy produced upon impact. The Shadowmatt helmet is available in black, blue and brown. The Shadowmatt is available with the dressage chin strap option: this option allows women to wear their hair in a bun without being constrained by the harness of the helmet. This chin strap is shorter by 2.5 cm in order to allow more room for the hair bun. PERFECT SIZE ADJUSTMENT FOR UNMATCHED COMFORT A thorough anthropomorphic study led to design an inner-shell form generating an unmatched comfort. - 3 shell sizes are available: S, M and L for Shadow and Miss Shield. - 2 shell sizes are available (M and L) for XJ/ XC and XJ MISS. Each shell can accommodate 4 to 5 inner foams of different sizes in order to obtain a perfect adjustment to the rider’s head.The size grid is available from 52 to 61. With this system, it is also possible to follow the growth of a young rider. STABILITY The internal comfort foam, “shape memory”-kind, ensuring a constant thickness over the years of use and the semi-rigid jugular cancel all risks of tipping the helmet in case of a violent movement. This internal comfort foam is removable thanks to a much stronger clip system than the scratch/Velcro system.It can therefore be washed (max. 30°C) at will in order to constantly be able to wear a clean and fragrant helmet. Equipped with two front air inlets, the helmet provides exceptional ventilation. INCREDIBLE INTERNAL AIRFLOW Fresh air is channeled from both the front entrance under the blazon as well as the channel obtained by the unique concept of no contact on the rider’s forehead.Fresh air expels the hot air to the back extractors around comfort foam, making impossible sweating! This concept generates a strong internal airflow avoiding the need for visible and unsightly air inlets: the equestrian elegance is retained without banishing technicality and comfort. SHADOW AND MISS SHIELD LINER In case of a fall? The outer shell is highly resistant. In the event of an impact, it's the inner shell which, by collapsing in on itself, absorbs the impact energy and protects the head. On the other hand, once a shock has been sustained, the inner shell does not return to its original shape, which is why it is extremely important to have your helmet checked after every fall. We find that it's not uncommon for riders to continue riding with a damaged helmet after a fall, even though there's a consequent risk that the helmet is no longer safe. For XJ/ XJ MISS and XC models, the outer shell is made of pure carbon fiber, a composite material offering an unbeatable strength-to-weight ratio. About the visor: The polycarbonate visor is designed to be flexible enough to protect the back of the neck in the event of an impact. Helmet standards Samshield surpasses required safety standards Certification standards guarantee the conformity and quality of helmets. They allow them to be approved, which is essential for riding at the highest level, by subjecting helmets to a series of tests and checks: - Impact on the front, back and sides of the helmet; - Stability on the head in the event of a fall; - Lateral crushing; - Resistance of the retention system. These standards are very strict and regularly evolve to meet more stringent requirements in order to ensure better protection for riders. This year, the standard has evolved to include new technical constraints. Models SHADOWMATT/ MISS SHADOW MATT and PREMIUM models are CE EN1384:2017 and ASTM/SEI certified. The SHADOWMATT 2.0/ MISS SHADOW MATT 2.0 and PREMIUM 2.0 models are EN1384:2017 and ASTM 2023 certified. XJ/ XJ MISS and XC models are ASTM/ SEI, EN/CE and PAS015 certified. EN/ CE standards are updated every 4-5 years.
