Samurai Honor pays tribute to Minamoto no Tametomo, the towering warrior and legendary archer of Japan’s late Heian period. Known as Chinzei Hachirō, Tametomo built his reputation through relentless campaigns before fighting alongside his father against his own brother during the Hōgen Rebellion of 1156. Stories claim his left arm was longer than his right, allowing him to wield a bow so powerful it was said to require the strength of five men to bend. In his final battle, Tametomo reportedly drove an arrow through an enemy ship below the waterline, sinking the vessel before choosing seppuku over capture.
