Domaine du Pré Semelé is a small, organically farmed estate in Sancerre — one of the Loire Valley’s most celebrated appellations and the spiritual home of Sauvignon Blanc. The Mainbré cuvée takes its name from a specific lieu-dit (named plot) within the appellation, where the soils and microclimate conspire to produce something of genuine distinction. Pale gold with a luminous clarity, it opens with a vivid and expressive nose: fresh grapefruit, white currant, lemon verbena, and the signature flinty, gunsmoke minerality that defines great Sancerre. On the palate, it is taut and precise — bright, focused acidity, a lean and elegant mid-palate, and a long, saline finish with a whisper of wild herb and chalk. Alive and energetic, with the kind of mineral tension that only comes from well-farmed limestone soils.
