Regency Sand Ginger is a plant native to India, China and Indonesia. It grows in wet forest regions, and has edible roots, which flaunt a delectable mango scent, with a flavour profile most similar to ginger. This elusive spice is commonly used in curry powders, pickling, thai salads, pastes, as well as used to fragrance soaps and perfumes! In our native Hong Kong, sand ginger is also reknowned for it's chinese herbal qualities, and commonly prescribed by chinese practitioners for curing all kinds of ailments. Chinese chefs have also incorporated this into local cuisine, by using sand ginger powder as a simple seasoning to rub on meats before steaming to keep all the flavours intact and wonderful sweet fragrance.
