Distilled from wild and plantation sandalwood trees (including the esteemed heartwood) in Mysore (Mysuru), Karnataka with a minimum age of 25 years, this is the finest quality sandalwood essential oil (मैसूर चंदन तेल). This is the authentic sandalwood of bygone days, sourced from the region formerly known as the Kingdom of Mysore (encompassing a greater area than the present day Mysore city). This essential oil is so vibrant and alive that it dances. Packed with creamy goodness that typifies the highest quality sandalwood, this product also has a classic almost musky animal intensity in the dry down. This is not a linear B-grade sandalwood extraction, this is a rich and complex classic sandalwood oil. Wear it straight on the skin, add it to a perfume, or put it down to age for a decade. Authenticity Our oil has a verified (Z)-α-santalol content of 47.5% and a (Z)-β-santalol content of 20.4% confirming its authenticity via ISO 3518:2022 (the international standard for verifying Sandalwood oil). Kingdom of Mysore Mysore sandalwood oil is extracted from trees that come from the southern parts of the Western Ghats, basically encompassing present day Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and the Konkan region of Maharashtra. The finest quality is from the forest regions of Marayoor in Kerala and present day Mysore city in Karnataka (formerly the capital of the greater Mysore kingdom). Much confusion exists today as trees from areas outside Mysore city are correctly (but confusingly) a source of traditional Mysore sandalwood oil.
