Size:52 x 28 inDiscover the vibrant allure of 'Sandbanks', a captivating original artwork by Nao McDowell, that effortlessly embodies the dynamic interplay between land and sea. Th is expansive piece, framed in an ultra-thin wooden white floating frame measuring 52 x 28 inches, offers a contemporary yet timeless tribute to the seascape genre. McDowell's talent shines through in her ability to blend realism with abstraction, creating a scene alive with motion and colour. The upper half of the painting is dominated by broad, expressive brushstrokes depicting the sky in a myriad of blues and whites - from cerulean to azure - capturing the vastness above and reflecting it into the depths below. These celestial hues merge seamlessly into deeper oceanic shades near the horizon while transitioning into brighter, lighter tones towards the shore, suggesting shallow waters caressing sandy beaches. Foreground splashes of vibrant pinks, greens, yellows over a bluesy sandy base suggest coastal vegetation or perhaps whimsical sea spray – an abstract representation meant to evoke seaside sensations rather than dictate them. Such masterful use of colour not only illustrates McDowell's unique perspective but also invites viewers to feel the powerful serenity and majesty of coastal landscapes. Nao McDowell’s work is deeply rooted in her appreciation for nature's inherent order and beauty. Splitting her time between urbanity and coastlines has influenced her art significantly; she draws inspiration from both architectural structures within cityscapes as well as nature’s own designs found along Britain’s southern shores. Her approach combines this dual influence with bold colours and sculptural layering of oil paint to convey emotion profoundly embedded beneath each surface layer. 'Sandbanks' epitomizes McDowell's exploration into translating natural landscapes' textures, colours, and moods onto canvas. It reflects an artist deeply engrossed in capturing not just visual splendour but also conveying emotional resonance through every stroke — making it an exquisite collectible for art lovers who cherish pieces that resonate with depth beyond mere aesthetics.
