Focused on producing small-lot, site-specific wines that showcase the best of what California's Central Coast has to offer, Outward wines in the partnership between Natalie Siddique and Ryan Pace. All of their vineyards are farmed organically, and are located in close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. In the cellar they strive to minimize inputs throughout the winemaking process, allowing for a clear picture of the fruit from each farmed site to come into fruition. Harvested from the Pace Vineyard and Starfire Vineyard, both located in the Santa Ynez Valley, the vines benefited from afternoon breezes and cold nights, which have helped this wine retain is vibrant acidity. This Syrah was co-fermented with Viognier (95% Syrah/5% Viognier) in a manner similar to Côte Rôtie in the Northern Rhône. After the wild, whole-cluster fermentation, the wine was pressed before maturing in spent French oak for 10 months, and is bottled unfiltered and unfined. Fresh violets, blackberries, boysenberry, cracked black pepper, graphite and savory meat define the flavor and nose of this excellent California Syrah. Only 96 cases produced. 13.5% ABV
