A signet ring is, at its origin, a personal seal. This eroded signet ring is dedicated to Sappho — to the memory she herself once trusted would outlast her: "someone will remember us, even in another time." The ring is cast using the ancient lost wax technique: a form built, then melted away, so only its transformed trace remains. What time does to language, wax does to metal — what is lost becomes the shape of what's left.
