This dark navy cotton fabric panel features a Japanese cherry tree in spring time blooms surrounded by the traditional sashiko flax leaf design. The panel is divided into four pane ls in the style seen in earlier centuries in Japanese paintings. Sashiko stitch in a single colour, or use several colours. You might also choose to applique the blossom petals, or use some embroidery stitches. Although it is a large piece (30" X 43"), the stitching is not dense and will go along quickly. If you are going to sew it into a project (bordered wall hanging, quilt, etc) you could cut apart the sections for easier handling while stitching. Comes with english language handout for how to do sashiko stitching. This panel is printed on high quality 100% cotton fabric with wash out ink. It is important not to let it get wet before the stitching is finished. Also, do not iron it as heat may set the ink. When finished, soak and wash gently to remove all the markings, dry and press from the back. Show more
