Made by Olympus in Japan, this package contains a strip of 6 sashiko patterns on beautiful dyed yarn Tsumugi cotton fabric, each 6" x 8" in size. Choose from 6 colours: red, navy-b lue, grey-blue, dark green, earthy rock-lichen, or sumi black. You can use the whole length (44") as a runner by adding a border, or cut the blocks apart to use them as blocks in other projects. Like most Olympus fabrics printed with sashiko designs, you can thread your sashiko needle and enjoy the stitching immediately. There is no need to transfer the design and when you are finished stitching you can simply soak and rinse away the printed markings. Olympus tsumugi cotton fabric is a dyed yarn shot cotton. Shot cotton fabrics are made by using two colours of yarn (thread), one for the warp, a second colour for the weft. These yarns are dyed before the fabric is woven resulting in a saturated colour and in this tsumugi fabric, a distinctive slightly mottled appearance. Suggested uses: Home decor, quilting and clothing. This fabric is also available in yardage in solid colours, and in pre-printed sashiko panels and smaller in pre-printed packages sold as coaster (4" X 4" blocks). This makes it easy to design your own projects, from cushions and runners to a whole bed quilt by combining solids with different size blocks. All of the colours available in the tsumugi fabric play well with each other expect perhaps the red.
