A beautiful large sashiko pouch from ITOTSUZURI, showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and timeless design. Originally called Santoku-bukuro, which directly translates to "three benef its pouch" or "three ways pouch", the history of this kind of pouch goes back to the Edo period (1603 – 1868) in Japan. In the ancient times these pouches were used to carry small items. This design [E] features the Kaki-no-hana Persimmon flower and the Hishitsunagi pattern which is a traditional pattern made up of a continuous series of diamond shapes. It symbolizes wishes for prosperity of descendants and good health. Japanese vintage aizome (indigo-dyed) fabric is used to create these pouches and exquisite sashiko embroidery work has been so carefully stitched on both sides. The large-size pouch is perfect for fitting an iPad mini, A5-size notebook, glasses, and other small items. The pouch is not padded but features a double layer of cotton fabric for added durability. The pouch is hand-sewn with hand-stitched sashiko work and each pouch is completely unique.Other designs and sizes are also available. To extend the lifespan of clothes, a worn-out piece was stitched with layers of old cloth to increase strength with this durable embroidery.
