Ingmar Apinis uses a combination of digital and analog processes to create work that explores the role of the internet in everyday life. Visual tropes associated with our digital e xistence are combined with references to classical statuary and both historical and mythological figures in electrifying mashups. A rich palette of techniques and mediums are employed including digital collage, stencilling, casting, hydro-dipping and laborious hand-painting techniques that create a simulacrum of digital textures and artefacts. In sum reflecting the dizzying effect of humanity trying to make sense of itself in an increasingly technology driven world. Show more
