This set contains two very useful Japanese saws and is presented in a soft suede case. A great add-on to my recommended tool sets. These are also the same saws that I use in my boo k. Superficially the saws look similar, but take one look at the teeth and you can see there are big differences! The crosscut saw is used for cuts across the fibres. It's very multipurpose and great for cutting wood to initial size. Also superb for DIY jobs at home. The rip saw gives you more capabilities to cut wood down into thinner sections by sawing along the grain - called 'rip cutting'. It has large teeth that graduate from small to large, which makes the saw much easier to start. If you try to cut along the grain with a crosscut saw, you'll find it mind-numbingly slow, but this chap is aggressively fast – it just munches through the grain. All very exciting! The case is super soft and has five pockets, so there's plenty of space if you already have a saw from one of my recommended kits or as your collection grows.
