The sawtooth oak is a hardy and faster growing oak tree variety. This large shade tree makes an excellent specimen for the yard with seasonal interest. In the spring you will get l ong, goldish-yellow catkins that emerge along with the foliage. The thin oval leaves open as a bright yellow color, then change to a dark green in the summer, and a yellow color in the fall. This tree is a little smaller with a rounded, full spread at maturity that is visually appealing.
