Scaevola albida Mauve Clusters. This beauty is also known as the Fan Flower, and it certainly has a legion of fans devoted to its fan-shaped mauve-blue flowers that open in Spring and last literally ages. It grows fast, springing up to cover bare soil with a mat of leaves and lavender-blue flowers with ease all whilst retaining its cool. Used as ground cover the Fan Flower creates a massive impact on the flower border, filling it with mounded forms, modern colour and attracting all the happy pollinators. A cottage garden isn’t complete without this gorgeous plant and you can also pop some in a container to break up the harshness of a stone patio or wooden deck. It’s cheerful in a hanging basket too. This lovely plant is just so versatile and easy to care for that no-one should be without it. This is the type of good-natured and enthusiastic plant that encourages newbies to the garden.
