The Scandi Candy Fly is a bold, flashy baitfish-style streamer that’s known for waking up aggressive strikes when fish want a bigger meal. With its bright color options and full profile, it earns a spot in the box as a go-to pattern for covering water fast and showing fish something they can’t ignore. It’s a strong choice for anadromous and predatory fish like steelhead, salmon, and large trout. What It ImitatesThis pattern is built to suggest a small baitfish or leech, not a single perfect match to one species. The loud colors and flowing materials help it read as “alive” in the current, even when the water is cold or slightly off-color.Why We Like ItThe Scandi Candy Fly brings a modern, bright look to a classic streamer idea, a strong silhouette, movement, and color that carry through different water types. It is tied by Umpqua Feather Merchants, so you get clean proportions and consistent tying on a proven platform. It is offered in Chartreuse, Orange, and Blue, and it is available in size 4 for anglers who want a larger, attention-grabbing profile. The Scandi Candy Fly is the pick when you want more flash and more visual presence, such as when fish need help finding the fly or when you want to push a reaction bite.Scandi Candy Fly vs Intruder-style fly:Intruder-style patterns are often bulkier and built around strong movement with multiple materials, and they are commonly fished for anadromous species. The Scandi Candy Fly keeps a cleaner, simpler baitfish profile while still bringing bright color. Choose the Intruder style when you want maximum profile and pulse, and choose the Scandi Candy when you want a straightforward, flashy streamer that is easy to rotate through colors.Scandi Candy Fly vs Bunny Leech:Bunny leeches lean on natural hide movement and a softer, more “swimmy” look that shines in slower runs and when fish want a steady target. The Scandi Candy Fly is more about color pop and visibility, which can be a better fit in broken water or any time you want the fly to stand out. If you want a subtle, natural track, reach for a bunny leech, and if you want a brighter signal fly, reach for the Scandi Candy.
