Schlitz The Bull 24OZ Can is a classic American malt liquor packaged in a 24-ounce can at 5.9% ABV. Known widely by its longstanding "Bull" mascot, this brew is one of the original malt liquors in the American market, produced today under the Pabst Brewing Company banner out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Quick Facts: ABV: 5.9% | Origin: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA | Style: Malt Liquor | Brewer: Pabst Brewing Company Production & Heritage Schlitz Malt Liquor was introduced as the bolder sibling to the flagship Schlitz Lager, becoming one of the pioneering American malt liquors. Like most malt liquors, it is brewed with adjuncts — corn and additional fermentable sugars — added to the malted barley base. This process increases alcohol content without making the body significantly heavier or sweeter. The brand is now owned and operated by Pabst Brewing Company, which acquired the Schlitz portfolio and continues to produce it as part of its stable of heritage American beer brands. Tasting Notes Aroma: Light cereal grain and sweet corn rise first, followed by a faint caramel maltiness. There is little hop presence on the nose, keeping the overall impression clean and uncomplicated. Taste: The entry is smooth with noticeable sweetness — caramel and corn dominate the palate early on. Mid-palate, a mild green apple character emerges alongside a light malt backbone. Bitterness is restrained throughout, landing closer to sweet than dry. Finish: The finish is relatively short, with residual sweetness tapering off into a clean, slightly grainy close. There is minimal lingering bitterness, making the overall drinking experience smooth and easy. How to Drink The Bull Schlitz Malt Liquor is best served cold, straight from the can or poured into a pint glass. The 24-ounce format is built for casual, straightforward drinking. Its sweet malt profile works in a Brass Monkey — the classic combination of malt liquor and orange juice that plays off the beer's caramel sweetness. It can also stand in for standard lager in a Michelada, where lime, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce add savory contrast to the sweet base. For a simple summer option, try it as the base of a Shandy with lemonade, which rounds out the corn sweetness with tart citrus.
