Non-toxic, waterproofing and uncoupling underlayment for tile and stone flooring Schluter®-DITRA is an award-winning, odor-free polyethylene membrane for moisture protection and cr ack isolation of ceramic and stone tile. It prevents tile and grout from cracking, blocks moisture migration into your subfloor, prevents mold and mildew and provides heavy load support. In short, your tile will last a lifetime. Schluter's proprietary design allows for the subfloor and tile to move independently, which keeps expansion and contraction from cracking your tile. The open-ribbed construction allows air and moisture to flow through it, which prevents water from seeping into the thinset and grout. DITRA can be installed on top of concrete, plywood, OSB, gypsum, existing vinyl floors, structural planks and radiant-heated floors. Use anywhere ceramic, porcelain or stone tile is used, such as in bathrooms, kitchens, entry ways, or basements. For walls, use Schluter-KERDI. For exterior applications use DITRA-DRAIN. For in-floor electric radiant heat use DITRA-HEAT. For hydronic radiant heat use BEKOTEC. Made in Germany, DITRA and DITRA-XL each look like a dimpled mat, 1/8" or 5/16" thick, respectively. Use the DITRA for normal tile thickness and 16" OC joists, and use the DITRA-XL for thicker tile and 24" OC floor joists.
