A photo-series by German photographer Michael Schmidt (1945-2014), published here in its entirety for the first time: fifty-five black-and-white urban landscapes, shot in Berlin in 1980; images in which the frequent void spaces evoke the city's fractured social and architectural identity in the wake of WWII.
