In 1973/74, Herbert von Karajan took an innovative step and recorded orchestral pieces by Arnold Schoenberg, Anton Webern and Alban Berg together with the Berliner Philharmoniker - all three representatives of the Second Viennese School. The results were groundbreaking recordings of the Second Viennese School, presented in a sophisticated 4-LP box set designed by renowned graphic designer Holger Matthies.All recordings have been newly mastered from the original 4- & 8-track tapes and mixed by Rainer Maillard and Sidney C.
