This CHRONICLE is of a serene and still lake that reflects the miniature movements of life. In the center of this vast lake sits a school of ducks. As they follow one another, shifting the refraction of light across the water's surface, one of them finds interest in something out of frame. While he isn't being completely stranded by the crowd, his friend still notices his lack of intention and slows down to stick with him. Together, they both just barely keep up with the group, and they still find the time to stare down whatever it is that has caught their eye. Maybe what they are so keen on interpreting is the crane that sits near the top of the frame. He is standing there, looking over at them with his sharp eyes that he uses for hunting. It could very well be that they have spotted one another, both waiting to learn something new about the other. This is SCHOOL. STORY This CHRONICLE was taken at Lake Yojoa in Honduras when I was on a trip to learn Spanish and to share a bit of saving information with people. The story of the photograph lines up with my goals and my attitudes towards my goals. Like many people in this world, I have made ideas and tasks on my "to-do list", and it was no different for me during the time of this photographic story. I had college on my mind, this business, the photo, the birds, the rocking boat, and, most importantly, my relationship with God. All of these things jumbled together in my mind made it so easy to be led astray. The lack of clarity proved to be no help in disguising what I needed to focus on, which at the time was God and school. The ducks slowly paddling their way across the lake were just like me, at least the ones in the back. They had a very obvious goal in mind, and yet they were so distracted by their curiosity. Many of us can fall into that same category, and I think that it can be the best thing that's ever happened to you, or the worst. Forgetting what you wanted to dedicate your time to in the past and moving on to something completely new may result in success or failure. I am yet to discover whether my switch-up in focus, this business, was worth it, but we can certainly see! I want this photograph to do two things when you hang it on your wall. Number one, use it as a reminder for the things you've committed yourself to. Look at it and find peace in its colors, and recall the earnestness you may have had in the past. Number two, be encouraged to know that you aren't the only one. We all struggle when it comes to juggling multiple tasks, various things that we really want to focus on. Use that encouragement to help you take a step forward in both your level of endurance and in boldness to reach out to someone when the task is too heavy. Thank you for reading.
