Pool training builds freedive safety skills through the middle weeks, then two guided field trips take the learning into the moana — the sheltered bays of the Bay of Islands, with options to Kai Iwi Lakes, the Cavalli Islands or the Poor Knights Islands marine reserve for senior groups. Follow-up sessions and a restoration project close the circle, and senior ākonga can extend into SSI ecology specialties — Marine Ecology, Fish Identification, Shark & Ray Ecology, Marine Mammal Ecology. We map the term together, align it to your curriculum goals, and finish with a debrief and written report for your board, funders and whānau.Price$140 per ākonga + GST for a single class (minimum 25 ākonga) · $130 per ākonga + GST when two or more classes join (50+ ākonga). Covers all planning and H&S paperwork, classroom and pool sessions, both field trips with trained support to safety ratios, follow-up and restoration sessions, gear and full sterilisation, travel, and reporting. Invoiced to the school — registering interest costs nothing and holds your term dates.Safety & ratiosPool sessions run at 1:8 instructor-to-student; open water at 1:4 in-water plus a dedicated lookout; Year 8 and below work to a 1:2 adult-to-student benchmark. Buddy system always, wetsuits mandatory, oxygen and first aid on every activity, all kaimahi Children's Act safety checked, and our externally audited Safety Management System is available on request.
