In 1886 eight large allegorical artworks by Italian artist Tommaso Juglaris were installed in the Capitol's dome. Each work features a female muse representing a virtue of the Stat e of Michigan. Science sits under a starry blue sky, flanked by a telescope and a celestial globe depicting the position of the constellations in the sky. The paperweight is round and measures 3 1/2" wide. Show more
