One hot Texas summer night, I slept in my bed, minding my own business when WHAM! out of nowhere I was stung in the forearm by a scorpion! In my own bed!All sorts of chaos ensued, and I was then petrified to lay in my bed again that night. My husband joked, “Well, what are the chances of getting stung twice in one night? That’s like getting struck by lightning twice!” Still paranoid, I managed to fall asleep that night and this shawl was born shortly thereafter!When I saw the “scorpion” motif in Barbara Walker’s stitch dictionary, I knew it needed to become a shawl!
