Picking one New to two-handed? The 12'8" 7 weight is the standard answer. It handles Skagit and Scandi, floating and sinking, and covers most steelhead water in the West. Winter steelhead with heavy tips? The 12'8" 8 weight. Built to throw T-14 and T-18 without protest. Summer fish and skated flies? The 13'8" 7 weight for long-belly work, or the 11'8" 6 weight if your water is smaller. Want one rod that switches roles? The 9'8" models fish as heavy single-handers — indicator rigs, streamers, tight brushy rivers. On grain weights: Scott does not publish grain windows for the Swing series — only line weight.
